The Why:

This was our first roast. The beginning. The perfect medium roast that set everything in motion—and still remains our most popular. We renamed it Pioneer to honor the street where Function Coffee Co. launched, and the coffee that paved the way for everything that followed.

PALETTE: Crowd-pleasing and approachable, with notes of almond brittle, Swiss chocolate and dates.

ORIGIN: Our “Pioneer” roast is a blend natural process Brazilian beans sourced from four different family-run farms in the Minas Gerais region.

IMPACT: Our beans are ethically sourced, organic when possible, and roasted on the Bellwether Roaster--the most sustainable, zero-emission roaster on the planet.
