Loved it! First time here and my drink was amazing!! Hibiscus drink for me 10/10! The staff is so kind and welcoming, the atmosphere was great, and wonderful music too! The only downside about the place is limited seating. It’s so great that people WANT to sit down and chat, do homework, work, or just enjoy the place. So if its busy, you might not find a seat, but that’s okay, the place is great!
Function Coffee Co. is such a special addition to the Northlake/Argyle community! This husband-and-wife-owned coffee shop is not only beautiful, but the people behind it are genuinely some of the kindest and most welcoming you’ll ever meet. Tony and Devin (owners) are the real deal here!
The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting, and I absolutely love the pink and green decor! (My youngest daughter and I love Wicked, and this coffee shop is definitely our vibe!) 💗💚 Both of my girls and I love stopping in, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places to meet up with friends, too. We love that the baristas know our name and order, shoutout to Alli and Lena!)
And their Hummingbird Matcha?! 🍵 It’s officially my go-to almost every time I go! Everything about Function feels thoughtful, personal, and authentic, and you can tell how much heart they’ve put into creating this space for their community!
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check them out! Supporting a wonderful local husband-and-wife team while enjoying a great drink in a beautiful space is a win all around. I am thankful every time I step in the door, because I know I will always leave feeling like I just got a warm hug from this incredible business!
Saw this place on TikTok and decided to try. Coffee was very disappointing. Also, to my surprise I learned the man standing behind the counter next to the cashier, who never greeted me, but instead watched me like a hawk, is the owner. Then proceeds to engage with the customer directly after me and then offers the “first timers” next to me something. Yea, it was my first and last time! SMH!
Love this place! Great coffee, matcha, and food! The cutest environment & a great place to hang out. It gets super busy though so if you want seating get here early!
I ordered “The Teddy” from the signature latte section and was surprised to watch it being made with premade cold brew. For $7, I definitely expected an actual espresso-based latte (not a dressed-up cold brew). Unfortunately, the flavor wasn’t great either. It had an oddly sour, slightly bitter taste. My husband’s chai was okay, so I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1, but I left feeling like I paid latte prices for cold brew in a cute can.
Had some of the best coffee I’ve ever and a wonderful breakfast taco. The building was gorgeous inside, service was fast and friendly, and everything tasted so good. I will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend!
This was my second visit so I already anticipated it being loud and busy inside. The line was long but it moves fast and the decor is fun stuff to look at while you wait. I had the iced Hummingbird and it was super solid. My husband is hard to impress and he really enjoyed his iced caramel latte as well. The staff is also very friendly. I hope they open more locations!
We stopped in the area to visit family and they insisted we stop by Function, and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere was amazing and our drinks were so delicious, absolutely loved the clear can concept for the iced drinks. My breakfast taco was flavorful and really hit the spot! And when I went back to the counter after finishing my first drink, the barista remembered my name, and I really love and appreciate that extra mile when it comes to customer service. Definitely will be back whenever we are here again!
I really wanted to love this place, but 4 strikes and they’re out.
The inside is super cute—I love the colors and the overall aesthetic. Plus, the creative and innovative drink concepts are great in theory. Unfortunately, the execution and consistency just aren't there, and after giving them four separate chances, my family and I won't be back.
Here is how our visits went:
Visit 1: Stopped by two days after their grand opening, but they were unexpectedly closed. Disappointing, but I figured it was just opening-week hiccups.
Visit 2: Came back with my family two weeks later. Parking was a nightmare, and the line was huge. It was so loud inside that it triggered my anxiety. When ordering, there was a communication barrier—I asked if removing the basil syrup from a matcha would change the taste profile, and the cashier just told me there was "no charge." On a positive note, the drinks we got (Teddy, chocolate milk, matcha, coffee) tasted good this time.
Visit 3: Decided to try the "Beekeeper" matcha and some breakfast burritos. The matcha was wildly sweet and tasted like straight perfume. The burritos were tiny (more like tacos) and had hard, dried-out eggs. Yuck.
Visit 4 (The final straw): Stopped by to grab matchas for my family (I had the "Hummingbird"). The drink was an unappetizing, dull gray color, and again, so sickly sweet it was almost undrinkable.
Final Feedback for Management:
1. Matcha Quality & Sweetness: Please focus on quality control. Premium matcha shouldn't be gray, and it shouldn't be masked with excessive sugar/syrup to the point it tastes like perfume.
2. Food Freshness: The burritos tasted old and microwaved.
3. Acoustics: The space needs soundproofing or noise-dampening panels. The echo and loud noise levels make it stressful rather than enjoyable.
It’s a super cute concept, but for the price and hassle, it’s just not worth it.
This beautiful coffee shop roasts their beans in house, organic syrups, breakfast tacos, all in a place with an at home, cozy, boho feel. Wonderful tasting coffee — I had the cold Bown Eyed Girl. Hats off to the owners on creating a new staple in Northlake!
Just tried Function for the first time. Had a GREAT experience!! I asked them to make a certain drink that’s nostalgic to me (a lemon lavender cold brew) and they absolutely nailed it!! It was perfect. I work close by and will be back very often!!!
I’ve visited this adorable coffee shop 10 times in July so far, often with my husband. I’ve never been a coffee drinker but the three different iced Signature Lattes I’ve tried are so yummy! And hubby loves the drip coffee. We also like the breakfast tacos and blueberry muffin. The folks who work there have been consistently friendly. Nice people, cozy atmosphere, and yummy drinks!
Cold brew lattes are good without syrup, matcha is good without syrup, even their tacos and salsa are good. They seem to use organic and GF ingredients as much as possible if not completely. Matcha is not pre-sweetened 🙌🏻. I like getting an iced matcha made with water instead of milk + strawberry puree on the bottom.
Highly recommend the Lebanese taco with green salsa! 😋
Tbh it is so cutesy inside I didn’t have high hopes for the flavors 🫣 I am pleasantly surprised after visiting a handful of times.
Amazing coffee and delicious breakfast tacos! Staff is always so friendly too! I drink my coffee black so I’m super picky about good cold brew and theirs is awesome!
