We’re passionate about coffee—absolutely. But we’re even more passionate about people. Every coffee shop talks about “community,” but for us it’s not just a buzzword—it’s who we are at our core. We’re beyond excited to open our doors and serve you right here in Northlake, TX. Our first brick-and-mortar café arrives Spring 2026.
About
How Function Coffee Co. came to be
I started drinking coffee at the ripe old age of Child. My earliest coffee memory? Standing in my grandparents’ kitchen in Beeville, TX, when my mom handed me a red mug filled with coffee, a tidal wave of milk, and six scoops of sugar.
It tasted like liquid magic.
Fast forward a few years: my taste buds grew up (slightly) as I spent years working for coffee shops in New York City and Los Angeles, soaking in the craft, and culture that shaped my love for specialty coffee.
After returning home to Texas, I set up a Bellwether electric Shop Roaster—the first and only zero-emission coffee roaster in Northlake—and the rest is history. Function Coffee Co. was born from equal parts passion, curiosity, and a desire to build something that truly serves the community around us.

We're on a mission to make specialty coffee approachable
When Tony fell in love with coffee, it was right at the dawn of the third-wave movement—and with it came a whole lotta unnecessary snobbery. We think it’s time for something new.
This "fourth wave" of coffee? We believe it should be joyful. Inclusive. Transparent. Human. A place where great coffee brings people together instead of creating barriers.
