We had the incredible honor of recently being featured on NBC Texas Today, and it’s safe to say the experience was one we won’t forget anytime soon.

When the producers from NBC Texas Today reached out about featuring Function Coffee Co., we were honestly blown away. As a small but growing coffee company rooted in the Northlake community, getting the opportunity to share our story on local television meant the world to us.

And the experience couldn’t have been better.

Meeting the Texas Today Team

We had the pleasure of being interviewed by Adriana López, who truly could not have been kinder or more welcoming. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel comfortable and excited to share our journey.

Adriana took a genuine interest in how Function Coffee Co. came to be, asking thoughtful questions about our path from roasting coffee to launching a coffee cart and now building our first brick-and-mortar café.

It felt less like a formal interview and more like a conversation about passion, community, and coffee.

The Journey to Function Coffee Co.

During the segment, we talked about the journey that led to Function Coffee Co. becoming what it is today.

Like many small businesses, it didn’t start with a storefront.

It started with roasting.

We began by roasting small batches of coffee, learning the craft and dialing in flavors that we truly loved. From there, we launched our mobile coffee cart, bringing specialty coffee directly to local events, neighborhoods, and gatherings across Northlake and the surrounding Dallas–Fort Worth communities.

The response from the community was incredible. What began as roasting coffee quickly turned into something bigger.

That momentum eventually led us to where we are today: building out our first brick-and-mortar coffee shop in Northlake, Texas.

Building a Coffee Shop for the Community

One of the things we emphasized during the interview was that Function Coffee Co. has always been about more than just coffee.

Our goal is to create a place where people feel welcome — a space where neighbors can meet, relationships can grow, and the community can gather.

Northlake is growing rapidly, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be building something here that we hope will become part of the daily rhythm of the town.

From roasting our own beans locally to serving carefully crafted drinks, everything we do is centered around quality, hospitality, and community.
